Job summary

Remitly is hiring a Senior Software Development Engineer to own key pillars of the Transaction Experience platform. You will improve delivery estimates using ML, build scalable services, and collaborate across teams to deliver reliable, transparent remittance capabilities.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of professional software development in backend systems.
• Degree in CS or related field or equivalent experience.
• Experience with large-scale distributed backend systems on AWS.

Responsibilities

• Take ownership of a transaction platform area and be the SME.
• Improve delivery time estimates; reduce latency and increase reliability.
• Help teams migrate to the new API-first platform without downtime.
• Own end-to-end initiatives; break work into parallel streams.
• Write specs, lead reviews, and contribute to cross-team designs.
• Deliver scalable, observable, and well-tested services/APIs.
• Own operational health: on-call, SLOs, incident response, RCs.
• Assess AI-generated code for correctness and safety; coach on use.
• Collaborate with PMs to shape technical direction and roadmap.
