Job summary

United States Digital Space LLC is seeking a Senior Software Engineer (L5) to design and build scalable backend systems powering origination workflows. You will modernize infrastructure, reduce complexity, and enable onboarding of new partners and lending experiences.

The role requires strong backend skills, production experience, and the ability to drive design discussions while improving reliability and observability across critical services.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in CS, Eng, Math or related field and 4+ years of software engineering experience.
• 6+ years building and operating backend services in production environments.
• Experience owning software through the full development lifecycle, including design, implementation, deployment, monitoring, and on-call support.
• Proficiency with at least one modern backend framework; Ruby on Rails ability or ability to ramp quickly in a Ruby-based codebase.
• Experience designing distributed systems, service integrations, or workflow-based architectures for scalability.

Responsibilities

• Design and build scalable backend services and platform capabilities across products and partners.
• Improve reliability, observability, and operational resilience of origination systems and APIs.
• Refactor legacy systems to create reusable platform infrastructure that scales.
• Build orchestration and workflow solutions to streamline onboarding and reduce manual work.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Product, Compliance, Legal, and Sales teams to deliver scalable lending experiences.
• Drive design discussions and contribute to engineering best practices for system quality and monitoring.
