Job summary

CVS Health Corporation in the United States is seeking a Staff Backend Engineer to join a high-impact engineering team focused on AI-powered platforms. You will deliver scalable, production-grade GenAI applications and lead technical design discussions.

The role requires hands-on backend and API development, frontend awareness (Angular/React), cloud-native microservices, and experience with LLMs, prompts, and RAG.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field; equivalent experience accepted.
• 7+ years building scalable, production-grade software systems.
• Experience designing microservices and RESTful APIs.
• Hands-on with cloud platforms (GCP).
• Strong CI/CD, DevOps, and containerization know-how.
• Frontend familiarity with Angular/React or similar.
• 1+ years with Generative AI/LLM-based systems including prompt engineering.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and deploy scalable AI/GenAI applications using LLMs and RAG architectures.
• Develop AI prompts, evaluation frameworks, and model pipelines for accuracy and performance.
• Architect end-to-end solutions including frontend (Angular/React) and backend APIs/services.
• Integrate AI capabilities into enterprise systems with cloud-native microservices.
• Lead technical design discussions and drive secure, high-performance architecture decisions.
• Collaborate with product, business, and engineering teams to deliver impactful solutions.
• Build reusable frameworks for LLM evaluation, monitoring, and observability.
• Ensure CI/CD, testing, code reviews, and security best practices.
• Mentor engineers and promote innovation and quality.
• Stay current with AI trends and modern web technologies.
