Job summary

Affirm, Inc. is seeking a Senior Software Engineer, Backend for the AI Platform. This role focuses on building scalable, secure backend systems and AI-driven infrastructure in a remote US setting. You will contribute to gateway/runtime components and partner with security and infra teams to enable safe, high-volume AI workloads.

You will own technical decisions, drive design standards, and mentor engineers while delivering reliable platforms that empower product teams and customers.

Qualifications

• 4+ years designing backend systems at scale.
• Experience with Python or Kotlin.
• Experience with AWS, MySQL, Kubernetes.

Responsibilities

• Plan, design, and own technical decisions for AI Platform backend services.
• Build gateway, runtime, and evaluation services for AI workloads.
• Define guardrails for identity, quotas, routing, and caching.
• Mentor engineers and drive best practices in design and testing.
