Job summary

WEX is seeking a Sr. Software Engineer for the North America Mobility Platform.

You will design, develop, and deploy scalable backend services and AI-enabled features that support fleet payments, spend orchestration, and credit workflows for a global user base. You’ll lead design decisions, write automated tests, review code, mentor engineers, and collaborate with product, design, and other teams to improve performance, reliability, and security across distributed systems using Java, SpringBoot,

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering.
• 5-8 years of professional software engineering experience.
• Strong understanding of data structures and algorithms, object-oriented design.
• Experience designing internet-scale services with scalability, availability, security, and reliability.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, collaborative mindset.
• Proficiency in backend development with Java or C#, frameworks like SpringBoot, building and optimizing RESTful APIs, ODATA framework, and SQL.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain robust backend services.
• Develop public REST APIs using Java and internal gRPC APIs for inter-service communication.
• Craft systems designs and drive alignment with senior engineers.
• Write automated tests, integration tests, and performance tests.
• Collaborate with product managers, designers, and other engineers to implement new features.
• Lead code reviews and mentor junior engineers to promote best practices.
