WEX, Inc. is seeking a Senior Development/Operations Engineer to join the Connected Fleet team in the United States. You will design and build scalable web and back-end applications, delivering seamless customer experiences for large fleets and transportation companies.

Expect collaboration with Sawatch and other WEX engineering teams to drive performance and reliability. You will develop public REST APIs in Python and Node, implement comprehensive testing, and lead automation for CI/CD,

Qualifications

• 5–8 years of professional software engineering experience.
• Backend focus with strong Python, Node.js, Go or C++.
• Experience building and optimizing RESTful APIs and SQL databases.
• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes and cloud platforms.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain robust, scalable, and high-performance web applications.
• Develop public REST APIs using Python and Node for inter-service communication.
• Implement automated testing strategies: unit, integration, end-to-end, load, and performance.
• Identify bottlenecks and drive scalability, stability improvements.
• Develop and enhance automation frameworks for testing, monitoring, CI/CD to reduce time to market.
• Conduct code reviews and promote engineering best practices.
• Troubleshoot production issues, write root cause analyses, ensure reliability.
• Maintain documentation: design docs, run books, change management, readiness plans.
