Job summary

Close is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer for the Backend Platform on a 100% remote USA team. You’ll build and maintain Python Flask services, scale TaskTiger workflows, and own API infrastructure used by product teams and external agents.

You’ll work across MongoDB, PostgreSQL, Elasticsearch, Redis and AWS stack (EKS, RDS, EC2) with Kubernetes, Terraform and Ansible. The role emphasizes observability, production discipline, and building AI-enabled tooling like DevDawg and Spice.

Qualifications

• Seasoned Python engineer with Flask backbone.
• Experience building APIs and design guidelines.
• Experience with AI-native production systems.

Responsibilities

• Expand DevDawg and Spice for cloud development.
• Build paved roads for the API layer: REST, GraphQL, OpenAPI, auth and permission plumbing.
• Ensure observability and production readiness across services.
