Job summary

LangChain is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to build and maintain the backend systems powering LangSmith’s observability and evals platform. You will develop core services that enable developers to monitor and evaluate AI applications at scale, with emphasis on backend feature development and collaboration with full-stack engineers.

The role requires strong experience in Python or Go, API design, and delivering reliable data services in high-throughput environments.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of backend engineering experience on complex products.
• Proficiency in Python or Go.
• Strong API design and reliable data services.
• Experience with high-throughput systems.
• Experience with Postgres, Redis, Clickhouse and cloud platforms AWS/GCP/Azure.
• Excellent cross-functional communication and ownership mentality.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain backend services and APIs for tracing, monitoring, and evaluation workloads.
• Collaborate on architecture for performant, maintainable systems.
• Optimize storage and query performance for high-volume data.
• Ensure system reliability with testing, monitoring, and alerting.
• Troubleshoot production issues and perform root-cause analysis.
• Create technical documentation including system design and API references.
• Work with frontend, product, and design on rolling out new features.
