Job summary

Realtor.com is seeking a Sr. Backend Software Engineer — News & Insights (T3) to own backend services, data integrations, and cloud infrastructure. You’ll work with frontend engineers and WordPress content partners to power the content platform for millions of readers and major partners.

You will lead AI‑native workflows, implement observability, and drive fast, secure deployments in a small, high‑impact team with cross‑functional collaboration and mentorship at senior levels.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software engineering experience with a strong backend foundation.
• Proven production ownership of backend services.
• Experience with modern JavaScript/TypeScript on the server side (Node.js heavily preferred).
• Experience with GraphQL (schema design, query optimization, persisted queries) and RESTful APIs.
• Hands‑on experience managing CI/CD pipelines, containerized deployments, and AWS hosting.
• Familiarity with caching, monitoring, and observability concepts.
• Able to evaluate technical trade‑offs and communicate backend architecture clearly.

Responsibilities

• Own, design, and scale Node.js microservices and GraphQL schemas.
• Lead backend ownership for a hyperlocal content platform and AI‑generated content engines.
• Manage multi‑layer caching, CDN, and ISR strategies for performance.
• Oversee CI/CD pipelines and AWS infrastructure for the News & Insights stack.
• Collaborate with product managers, newsroom stakeholders, and frontend engineers.
