Yahoo is seeking a backend-focused engineer to join the AntiSpam and Delivery teams, responsible for building systems that detect spam and reliably deliver billions of messages daily. You will work under minimal guidance, review code, and contribute to technical designs with simplicity in mind.

The role emphasizes cloud-native infrastructure, AI-assisted development, and collaboration with engineers, product managers, and designers in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifikationen

• BS/MS in Computer Science or related field with fundamentals in data structures, algorithms, OS, networking.
• Proficiency with AI-assisted development tools (Claude, Copilot, Cursor, Codex) and sound judgment on correctness, security, maintainability.
• 3+ years of backend-focused software development in Java, Go, or C++ (Java heavy).
• Solid understanding of cloud concepts: IaaS, PaaS, SaaS.
• Machine learning knowledge with some hands-on AI coding experience.
• Experience with a public cloud (GCP or AWS).
• Experience with containers (Docker) and orchestration (Kubernetes), preferably on GCP.
• Experience building high-performing server applications on Unix/Linux.
• Strong troubleshooting and debugging skills, including performance tuning.
• Clear communicator who collaborates well under pressure.

• Build and operate distributed systems for inbound protection and message delivery.
• Use AI-assisted development tools as part of daily workflow with validation.
• Translate requirements into correct, readable, testable code and deploy to production.
• Troubleshoot failures and tune performance across high-throughput services.
• Design and simplify components with minimal guidance.
• Review peers' code and assist with estimation.
