Job summary

Yahoo is seeking a Senior Software Engineer (IC4) for the AntiSpam and Delivery Engineering team. You will drive high-throughput, distributed systems, shaping how billions of messages are processed with AI-assisted workflows.

In this hybrid role, you’ll translate ambiguous requirements into resilient architectures, lead technical initiatives, and mentor engineers while delivering reliable, scalable mail delivery pipelines on GCP and hybrid environments.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional software development in Java, Go, or C++.
• 2+ years designing, owning, and operating large-scale distributed server applications in production.
• B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
• Hands-on proficiency with AI-assisted development tools to accelerate coding, debugging, and system optimization.
• Strong CS fundamentals in data structures, algorithms, OS, and distributed networking.
• Proven experience building and deploying cloud-native applications with CI/CD automation.
• Demonstrated ability to lead technical initiatives, guide architectural choices, and mentor peers.

Responsibilities

• Architect, build, and maintain high-concurrency, distributed microservices in Java and Go that meet stringent SLA, reliability, and security constraints.
• Champion AI-assisted engineering practices on the team, leveraging tools like Claude, GitHub Copilot and Cursor to accelerate feature implementation, code refactoring, and automated test suite creation.
• Integrate agentic AI workflows and LLM capabilities to enhance real-time spam detection models, abuse pattern recognition, and automated root-cause diagnostics.
• Lead technical initiatives across the squad, driving architecture reviews, code quality standards, and continuous deployment to production.
• Automate infrastructure provisioning, scaling, CI/CD pipelines, and telemetry monitoring across cloud-native (GCP) and hybrid environments.
• Evaluate emerging AI engineering tools and agentic frameworks, recommending safe, effective ways to modernize engineering workflows and eliminate repetitive manual tasks.
• Mentor junior and mid-level engineers, fostering a strong culture of technical excellence, continuous learning, and collaborative problem-solving.
