Job summary

EQL Edtech, a Seattle-based startup, is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to join as the architectural right hand to the CTO. You will shape scalable backend systems using Golang, with Python preferred, and drive AI-driven features alongside the founding team.

You will own infrastructure-as-code with Terraform on AWS/ECS, design robust APIs, and contribute to autonomous, event-driven workflows. This is a seed-stage opportunity offering hybrid or remote work for candidates based in the US.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of backend engineering experience.
• Proficiency in Golang; Python is highly preferred.
• Experience with Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform) and AWS services (ECS, Lambda).
• Architecture track record of large-scale APIs/microservices. Familiarity with Temporal is a plus.
• Ownership mindset; led complex projects end-to-end.

Responsibilities

• Architect core backend services with a focus on scalability and reliability.
• Design and evolve APIs and integration logic for automation and AI features.
• Own infrastructure and deployment pipelines using Terraform on AWS.
• Collaborate with Founding Team to implement AI-driven product features and event-driven systems.
