Job summary

Yahoo Holdings Inc. is seeking an experienced backend engineer to join the AntiSpam and Delivery teams. You will help build and operate distributed systems that process billions of messages daily while leveraging AI-assisted development tools for improved efficiency.

You will translate requirements into robust code, deploy continuously, and participate in code reviews. A strong foundation in data structures, algorithms, and networking is essential.

Qualifications

• BS/MS in Computer Science or a related field.
• 3+ years of backend-focused software development in Java, Go, or C++.
• Proficiency with AI-assisted development tools (Claude, GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Codex).
• Strong understanding of cloud computing concepts (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS).
• Experience with Unix/Linux server applications and troubleshooting.

Responsibilities

• Build and operate distributed systems for inbound protection, entity reputation, traffic shaping, and message delivery.
• Use AI-assisted development tools as part of daily workflow, validating and refining outputs.
• Translate technical requirements into correct, readable, testable code and deploy to production.
• Troubleshoot software failures and tune performance across high-throughput services.
• Design and simplify existing components with minimal guidance.
• Review peers' code, give constructive feedback, and assist with estimation.
