Tapestry, within Google, is seeking a Senior Staff Backend Software Engineer to build a data platform capable of LLM-enabled ingestion, enrichment, and discovery for the Agentic data layer. You will design scalable backend services and work with engineers, ML specialists, and product managers to align data infrastructure with grid modernization goals.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
• 5-8 years of experience building enterprise-grade complex software systems and applications.
• Excellent problem solving skills and ability to navigate complex situations.
• Strong communication skills and ability to drive consensus with leadership.
• Proficiency in at least one major backend language (Java/Kotlin or Golang).
• Experience with microservices architecture, RESTful APIs, gRPC, event-driven design, and Cloud SQL.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement massive-scale, secure data infrastructure and backend services for the Agentic Data platform.
• Partner with data security and product teams to protect sensitive grid data and meet governance standards.
• Build low-latency streaming infrastructure for large-scale data processing and AI simulations.
• Collaborate with engineers, PMs, AI researchers, and domain experts to translate requirements into products.
• Migrate teams to the Data Platform with minimal downtime and maintain speed.
