Job summary

Ramp is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to build backend services, APIs, and data models that power Ramp's accounting workflows across our suite of financial products. You will help ensure data accuracy, reliability, and scalable performance as transactions flow from capture to reconciliation.

This role is based in New York, with the option to work from Ramp's offices. You'll own substantial projects from design through production, collaborate with product, design, and engineering teammates,

Qualifications

• Experience designing, building, and operating production backend systems, including APIs, data models, and asynchronous workflows.
• Strong system design judgment around data correctness and reliability.
• Track record of independently owning complex projects and shipping high-quality software.
• Ability to investigate problems across services and data flows and turn learning into durable improvements.
• Clear communication and collaboration in technical decisions and feedback.

Responsibilities

• Design and build backend services, APIs, and data models that support accounting workflows across Ramp's products
• Make financial data accurate, traceable, and resilient as transactions move through coding, reconciliation, and sync
• Improve reliability and visibility of workflows spanning Ramp and customers' accounting systems
• Partner with product and engineering teammates to translate finance needs into practical designs
• Own substantial projects from design through launch, monitoring, and iteration
• Raise the engineering bar through design reviews, code reviews, and mentorship
