Job summary

Quo, Inc. is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to own and deliver intermediate to complex backend components. You will code, architect, review, and potentially lead small projects, with focus on scalable systems and reliable services.

The role uses TypeScript/Node, Kubernetes on AWS, and an event-driven microservices stack (Temporal, RabbitMQ) with Postgres, Mongo, Elastic, and Redis. You’ll drive quality through observability and thoughtful tradeoffs.

About the Role

As a Senior Backend Engineer at Quo, you will spend a majority of your time coding, architecting, and owning moderate to complex components. Beyond your technical work, you may also lead a small team or a project. You might also spend time providing technical guidance, code reviews, and design and delivering on small/medium size projects end-to-end.

Potential areas of focus include:

• Leveraging AI and advanced technologies to help customers manage and derive insights from their data, optimizing the customer onboarding experience.
• Empowering users to independently set up, manage, and scale their accounts with a seamless and compliant process.
• Enhancing core messaging and calling features, improving customer data management, and optimizing the visibility of conversations and contacts.

In any of these areas, you'll have the opportunity to tackle impactful challenges and help build scalable backend systems that will support a growing user base.

Technical stack and tools:

• Our backend is built on Node using Typescript.
• We use Kubernetes on AWS to orchestrate our infrastructure setup and deployment.
• The overall architecture is event-driven microservices with Temporal and RabbitMQ at the center of it.
• We use a variety of databases for different purposes: Postgres, Mongo, Elastic, and Redis.
• Observability Tools: Datadog
• Other Tools: Figma, Linear, Notion, and Slack

About you

• Strong experience with Typescript, or experience with object-oriented languages such as Java or C# and Javascript/Node.
• Strong experience with observability tools, including metrics, structured logging and distributed tracing

Compensation

The annual base salary range for this position is as follow, plus equity and benefits:

• SF Bay Area, Los Angeles, Seattle, Portland, Boston, New York, and Washington, DC Metro: $187,000 - $220,000 USD
• All other US Locations: $169,000 - $198,000 USD
• Canada: $172,000 - $202,000 CAD
