Job summary

Jeppesen ForeFlight is seeking a Software Engineer II to help build cloud-hosted backend services supporting Jeppesen Download Manager desktop and mobile apps. You will design scalable cloud-native architectures and modernize the existing production stack across AWS, Kubernetes, Apache, Linux, PHP, SQL Server, Docker, and CloudFormation.

This role is remote-friendly, with preference for candidates in the Denver, CO or Austin, TX metro areas who can be in an office on a quarterly to bi-monthly

Qualifications

• 6-8 years of experience in backend/cloud environments.
• Experience with cloud infrastructure and patterns.
• Designing scalable, high-volume backend systems.
• CI/CD pipelines and automation experience.
• Knowledge of security, patching, and production support.
• Kubernetes cluster management and container deployments.
• Familiarity with infrastructure as code and AWS services.
• Strong communication and documentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop and modernize cloud-hosted backend services using cloud-native tech.
• Design scalable, resilient backend architecture for growth and high downloads.
• Improve backend services, integrations, and operational workflows for desktop/mobile apps.
• Enhance infrastructure automation, CI/CD, monitoring, and HA/DR practices.
• Apply cloud security best practices across services and deployment processes.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver reliable backend services.
• Maintain and support existing AWS-hosted legacy services (Apache, Linux, PHP, SQL Server, Kubernetes, Docker, CloudFormation).
• Manage Kubernetes clusters, containerized services, and IaC templates.
• Patch and maintain existing infrastructure and applications.
