Job summary

Jeppesen ForeFlight is seeking a Software Engineer II to help build the next generation of cloud-hosted backend services that support JDM desktop and mobile applications. You will design scalable cloud-native services and support existing production infrastructure, focusing on uptime, data integrity, automation, security, and operational discipline.

This role is remote-friendly, with preference for Denver, CO or Austin, TX area.

Qualifications

• 6-8 years of experience in backend/cloud engineering.
• Experience with production cloud environments and backend services.
• Experience with cloud-native patterns and CI/CD pipelines.
• Knowledge of Kubernetes, Docker, AWS, Apache, Linux, and SQL Server.
• Experience with infrastructure as code and security best practices.
• Ability to work independently and with cross-functional teams.
• Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Develop and modernize cloud-hosted backend services using cloud-native tech.
• Design scalable, resilient backend architectures for high-volume workloads.
• Improve backend services and automated jobs for desktop/mobile apps.
• Enhance infrastructure automation, CI/CD, monitoring, and HA/DR practices.
• Apply cloud security best practices across services and deployments.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver reliable backend services.
• Maintain legacy AWS-hosted services built on Apache, Linux, PHP, SQL Server, Kubernetes, Docker, CloudFormation.
