Job summary

Ladders is seeking a Backend Software Engineer to build and operate core backend services powering AI-driven experiences. You will collaborate with ML/AI, Product, and Front-End teams to deliver reliable, high-performance systems for both consumer and enterprise users.

The role focuses on infrastructure, development practices, and a strong technical foundation within a fast-moving product organization, with a remote-first setup in the United States.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of back-end development experience with strong fundamentals in algorithms, data structures, and system design.
• Proven experience building, deploying, and debugging production systems at scale.
• Familiarity with AWS or other cloud platforms such as GCP or Azure.
• Comfort with AI-powered systems and experience building backend services for AI products is a plus.
• Fluency with AI coding tools and an understanding of their impact on software development.
• Experience with real-time systems or high-throughput API design is advantageous.
• Deep understanding of CI/CD and infrastructure as code.

Responsibilities

• Build and operate high-throughput production services for AI agent orchestration and real-time data pipelines.
• Design and build core platform services, including task schedulers and APIs connecting the AI engine to products.
• Collaborate with ML/AI, Product, and Front-End engineers to deliver AI-powered features end to end.
• Evolve infrastructure as code, ensuring high availability for consumer and enterprise customers.
• Contribute to an engineering culture focused on documentation, testing, and reliability.
• Mentor junior engineers and support their growth within the team.
