Job summary

Cognizant is seeking a Senior Azure Virtual Desktop Engineer to design deploy automate and optimize AVD environments supporting pooled and personal desktops. You will drive end‑to‑end lifecycle management and collaborate with identity networking and security teams to ensure scalable secure virtual desktop experiences.

Qualifications

• 5+ years designing deploying and supporting Azure Virtual Desktop environments.
• Strong expertise in AVD architecture including Host Pools Workspaces App Groups and Session Hosts.
• Understanding of Resource Groups VNets Subnets NSGs and network security.
• Hands-on with PowerShell Azure CLI Azure Automation and IaC tools (Terraform Bicep ARM).
• Experience managing the full virtual desktop lifecycle incl provisioning image management autoscaling patching.

Responsibilities

• Design build and deploy Azure Virtual Desktop environments from sizing to production.
• Define AVD resource specs including VM SKUs session host sizing and tagging.
• Configure and maintain Azure infrastructure components (Resource Groups VNets Host Pools Workspaces).
• Manage pooled and personal desktop environments per business requirements.
• Administer user assignments app group access and host pool allocations.
• Monitor and optimize AVD costs through rightsizing scaling and cost reviews.
• Develop automation for provisioning image management autoscaling patching and decommissioning.
• Collaborate with identity networking security and endpoint teams for integration.
• Maintain architecture diagrams runbooks and technical documentation.
