Job summary

Leggett & Platt is hiring a Senior Software Engineer to design, build, and operate backend services on Microsoft Azure from the IDEA Center in Lenexa, Kansas. You will balance hands-on development with cloud architecture, identity, and containerization responsibilities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or related field.
• 5+ years of professional software development experience with Azure.
• Strong proficiency in C# and/or Python for backend development.
• Solid understanding of core Azure services (App Service, Functions, SQL Database, Storage).
• Experience with Azure AD/Entra ID authentication flows and RBAC.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate backend services and APIs on Microsoft Azure.
• Architect cloud-native components and integrate with Azure services.
• Implement secure auth using Entra ID (Azure AD) and RBAC.
• Design and consume RESTful APIs with OAuth2/OpenID Connect.
• Build CI/CD pipelines with Azure DevOps for multi-environment deployment.
• Containerize services with Docker and deploy to AKS or Azure Container Apps.
• Collaborate with cloud/infrastructure teams on deployment practices.
• Instrument apps with Azure Monitor and Application Insights for troubleshooting.
• Lead architecture discussions and mentor engineers through code reviews.
• Communicate technical tradeoffs to product and stakeholders.
• Explore AI-assisted development and Azure AI tooling.
