Job summary

SMX is actively seeking an Azure/AWS Cloud Engineer to support a DoD client in Huntsville, AL. The role emphasizes operational excellence, communication, client success, and measurable results in a government hybrid cloud environment.

Responsibilities include cloud strategy, architecture, IaC, DevSecOps, and documenting baselines to guide enterprise-scale cloud operations. A Secret clearance and DoD guidance familiarity are required.

Qualifications

• Clearance required: Secret.
• Bachelor's degree with 12 years in cloud-related support; 4 years may substitute.
• Hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure and AWS.
• DoD-aligned certifications such as CompTIA Security+ or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Work in Agile IT environment establishing cloud-based hybrid cloud for government clients.
• Support cloud strategy using DoD approved providers (IaaS/PaaS/DaaS/SaaS).
• Define and engineer cloud solution capabilities to meet business drivers.
• Act as Cloud SME for client engagements and devise action plans.
• Perform architecture and requirements analysis focusing on cloud-native services.
• Develop deployment and automation capabilities (scripts, platforms, APIs).
• Utilize IaC (Terraform, CloudFormation) in DevSecOps with CI/CD pipelines.
• Provide advanced technical support, troubleshooting, and root-cause analysis.
• Produce documentation capturing baselines and operational capabilities.
