Job summary

RapidScale is seeking a senior AVD Architect to lead Azure and EUC strategy for enterprise customers. You will work with executive stakeholders to translate cloud capabilities into actionable roadmaps and investment cases.

Ideal candidates combine hands-on engineering with strategic advisory experience. You will design enterprise-scale AVD environments, drive cost optimization, and provide technical leadership across the architecture lifecycle while mentoring teams and shaping end-to-end

Qualifications

• 8+ years of relevant overall experience with a BA/BS or higher.
• 4+ years hands-on Azure architecture experience.
• 3+ years hands-on Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) in enterprise environments.
• Demonstrated experience designing enterprise-scale AVD environments.
• Experience migrating users and applications from traditional EUC/VDI platforms to AVD (Citrix, VMware Horizon, RDS).
• Strong hands-on knowledge of: Azure Virtual Desktop, Azure Compute, Azure Virtual Networks, Azure Storage, FSLogix, Azure Monitor and Log Analytics, Microsoft Entra ID, Active Directory.
• Experience with AVD scaling, capacity planning, and cost optimization (host pools, session hosts, app groups, workspaces).
• Strong understanding of identity and access architectures (AD, Entra ID, SSO, MFA, CA, hybrid identity).
• Intermediate IAAS experience with Terraform, Bicep, or ARM templates.

Responsibilities

• Lead collaboration with senior stakeholders to define Azure and AVD strategies.
• Translate requirements into scalable, secure AVD architectures.
• Lead discovery and architecture sessions to understand drivers and constraints.
• Define enterprise AVD architecture, standards, and roadmaps across infra, networking, identity, security, apps, operations.
• Develop TCO models and optimization strategies for AVD investments.
• Provide technical leadership across the architecture lifecycle.
• Partner with Sales, Engineering, Delivery, and Cloud Operations to shape solutions.
• Develop executive-ready architecture recommendations and documentation.
• Mentor architects and engineers to improve AVD capabilities.
