Job summary

RapidScale is seeking a senior Cloud Architect specializing in Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) to lead enterprise-scale deployments from strategy to implementation. You will work with executive stakeholders to balance business outcomes with technical feasibility.

The role requires hands-on experience with AVD, Azure Compute, Networking, and identity services, plus a track record in cost optimization and migration from traditional EUC/VDI platforms.

Qualifications

• BA/BS degree with 8+ years of experience or MS with 6+ years or PhD with 3+ years or 12+ years without a degree.
• 4+ years of hands-on Azure architecture experience.
• 3+ years of hands-on Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) in enterprise environments.
• Experience designing enterprise-scale AVD environments.
• Experience migrating users from traditional EUC/VDI to AVD (Citrix, VMware Horizon, RDS).
• Strong hands-on knowledge of Azure services (Compute, VNets, Storage, AD, Entra ID).
• Experience with AVD scaling, capacity planning, and cost optimization.
• Identity and access architecture expertise (SSO, MFA, CA, hybrid identity).
• Azure networking expertise (VNet, NSG, DNS, routing, VPN, ExpressRoute).
• IaC experience with Terraform, Bicep, or ARM.
• Automation for Azure/AVD deployments.
• Ability to create architecture diagrams and customer-facing docs.
• AZ-140 certification or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Lead collaboration with senior and C-level stakeholders to define Azure, AVD, and EUC strategies.
• Translate requirements into scalable, secure AVD architectures.
• Lead discovery sessions to understand drivers, requirements, and constraints.
• Define enterprise AVD architecture, standards, and roadmaps across infra, networking, identity, security, apps, and ops.
• Develop TCO models, capacity assessments, and optimization strategies for AVD and Azure decisions.
• Provide technical leadership across architecture lifecycle from design to implementation.
• Partner with Sales, Engineering, Delivery, and Cloud Operations to shape solutions.
• Develop executive-ready architecture recommendations, roadmaps, and docs.
• Mentor architects and engineers to improve AVD capabilities.
