Job summary

VAS is seeking a DevOps Team Lead in Wisconsin to own the delivery and reliability of our AWS cloud platform. This role blends hands-on engineering (60%) with technical leadership (40%), translating product needs into infrastructure requirements and guiding agile delivery.

You'll design and operate IaC across multi-account AWS environments, improve CI/CD pipelines, and ensure security, cost controls, and operational readiness while coaching engineers and shaping platform strategy.

Qualifications

• Senior-level hands-on DevOps experience in complex cloud environments.
• Proven ability to translate product and engineering needs into infrastructure requirements.
• Strong background in AWS multi-account setups and security controls.
• Experience leading Agile/Scrum teams and backlog ownership.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, review, and operate IaC across a multi-account AWS environment.
• Own and improve CI/CD pipelines for infrastructure changes with security controls.
• Build and maintain core AWS services supporting products, including networking and storage.
• Set engineering standards around IaC, IAM, state management, and documentation.
• Translate requests into clear requirements, milestones, estimates, and acceptance criteria.
• Lead DevOps backlog, planning, stand-ups, refinements, reviews, and retrospectives.
• Improve platform reliability with observability, SLOs, alerting, and runbooks.
• Participate in rotating night/weekend on-call and incident leadership.
