Job summary

Twining Consulting seeks a Senior AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) to lead structural steel and welding inspections in Northern California, including Sacramento and the Bay Area. The role calls for guiding junior staff, ensuring adherence to AWS codes, and mentoring teams on complex projects across commercial, industrial, transportation, and infrastructure sectors.

The successful candidate will review WPS/PQR/WPQ documentation, perform NDT oversight, and maintain safety and quality

Qualifications

• Current AWS CWI certification required.
• 7+ years of structural welding inspection experience.
• Experience on complex commercial, industrial, transportation, or infrastructure projects.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and welding symbols.
• Willingness to travel throughout Sacramento, the Bay Area, and Northern California.
• ASNT UT/MT or ICC certifications preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform structural steel and welding inspections per project specs, AWS codes, and standards.
• Lead welding inspection on complex projects including bridges and heavy civil infra.
• Provide direction, training, and mentorship to junior inspectors and project personnel.
• Document nonconforming work, and coordinate corrective actions with project teams.
• Review WPS, PQR, WPQ, and welding quality documentation for compliance.
• Witness and document high-strength bolting and erection activities when required.
• Oversee nondestructive testing activities and ensure proper reporting.
