Job summary

Construction Material Testing seeks a Certified Welding Inspector II to inspect structural steel, pipe, and fabricated assemblies, with authority to accept or reject per the project codes. You will witness tests, review WPS/PQR, and direct NDT while ensuring compliance for the engineer of record and building official.

The role requires a current AWS CWI with 2+ years’ experience, knowledge of D1.1 and at least one other code family; ICC steel/bolting certification is a plus.

Qualifications

• Current AWS CWI with 2+ years inspecting under it.
• Working knowledge of AWS D1.1 and at least one of D1.5, D1.8, ASME IX, or API 1104.
• ICC structural steel and bolting certification preferred.
• Able to defend a rejection with documentation.

Responsibilities

• Perform and sign visual weld inspection with accept/reject authority.
• Review WPS, PQR, and welder qualification records.
• Witness welder qualification tests.
• Direct and interpret nondestructive testing.
• Write repair instructions and disposition indications.
• Inspect fabrication shops and field erection; bolting and grout where certified.
• Prepare inspection and nonconformance reports for the engineer and building official.
