Job summary

Construction Material Testing seeks a Certified Welding Inspector II to oversee visual inspections of structural welds and oversee witness testing per project requirements. The role includes reviewing WPS/PQR and welder qualifications, directing NDT, and signing reports relied upon by engineers and officials.

The candidate must hold a current AWS CWI with 2+ years of inspection experience and have working knowledge of AWS D1.1 plus at least one of D1.5, D1.8, ASME IX, or API 1104; ICC

Qualifications

• Current AWS CWI with 2+ years inspection experience.
• Familiarity with AWS D1.1; knowledge of at least one of D1.5, D1.8, ASME IX or API 1104.
• ICC structural steel and bolting certification preferred (sponsored if not held).
• Ability to defend rejection decisions and document for retest closure.

Responsibilities

• Perform and sign visual weld inspections with accept/reject authority to governing code.
• Review WPS, PQR, and welder qualification records.
• Witness welder qualification tests and direct NDT as needed.
• Write inspection and nonconformance reports for engineer of record and building official.
