Job summary

Twining Consulting is seeking a Senior AWS Certified Welding Inspector in Sacramento, CA to lead structural steel and welding inspections across diverse infrastructure projects. The role requires guiding junior staff, reviewing WPS/PQRs, and ensuring adherence to AWS D1.1 and building codes.

Travel across Northern California is expected. The position offers an attractive hourly rate commensurate with experience and a strong benefits package.

Qualifications

• Current AWS CWI certification required.
• Minimum 7 years of structural steel and welding inspection experience on complex projects.
• Advanced knowledge of AWS D1.1 Structural Welding Code and building codes.
• Experience reviewing WPS/PQR/WPQ documentation and welding quality systems.
• Experience leading inspection teams and mentoring inspectors on projects.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and welding symbols.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills; able to work independently or in a team.
• Ability to travel across Sacramento, the Bay Area, and Northern California.

Responsibilities

• Perform structural steel and welding inspections per project specs, AWS codes, and standards.
• Lead welding inspection on complex projects including bridges and heavy civil infrastructure.
• Mentor junior inspectors and provide technical direction.
• Document nonconforming work and coordinate corrective actions.
• Review fabrication/erection activities for compliance with drawings and contract requirements.
• Witness nondestructive testing and verify standards compliance.
