Job summary

Meso Scale Diagnostics, LLC seeks a Principal Cloud Engineer to lead the design, build, and operation of its AWS cloud platform across manufacturing, CRO, and SaaS segments. You will mentor engineers, set standards, and hands‑on architect cloud infrastructure and automated pipelines.

You will own IaC, multi‑account AWS environments, and partner with Cybersecurity, Enterprise Systems, and product teams to align cloud capabilities with regulatory requirements and business goals.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of progressive cloud/DevOps experience.
• 7+ years AWS engineering across EC2, ECS, EKS, Lambda, S3, RDS/Aurora, DynamoDB, VPC, IAM, KMS, CloudFront, API Gateway, Route53, CloudWatch, CloudTrail.
• 3+ years of demonstrated people-leadership experience.
• Strong IaC experience with Terraform (preferred) / CloudFormation / AWS CDK at scale.
• Experience in regulated environments (FDA 21 CFR Part 11, GxP, ISO 13485, ISO 27001, SOC 2, HIPAA).

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop the Cloud Engineering and DevOps teams; set technical direction and runbooks.
• Architect, build, and operate MSD’s AWS environment across multiple accounts.
• Stay hands‑on: write/review Terraform, author CI/CD pipelines, debug incidents, optimize performance.
• Own and evolve Infrastructure‑as‑Code standards; state management and CI/CD integration.
• Operate and extend container and compute platforms (ECS, EKS, EC2, Lambda) and security tooling.
• Design and operate cloud networking foundation (VPC, Direct Connect, Transit Gateway).
• Own the CI/CD platform and developer tooling for quality and security controls.
• Partner with Cybersecurity on IAM, KMS, GuardDuty, SIEM integration; remediation of findings.
• Lead SRE practices: SLOs/SLIs, on‑call, observability, capacity planning, DR testing.
• Collaborate with Enterprise Systems and product teams on cloud‑native design and migrations.
• Ensure compliance with FDA 21 CFR Part 11, GxP, ISO/27001, SOC 2; support validation/audit activities.
