Job summary

Koniag IT Systems, LLC, a Koniag Government Services company, is seeking an AWS Technical Lead to guide enterprise cloud migrations for a federal civilian program in Washington, DC. The role is hybrid with 1–2 days onsite and requires extensive AWS experience and security-focused architecture.

The successful candidate will define target-state AWS architecture, lead Well-Architected reviews, and drive FinOps and Zero Trust design across GovCloud and commercial regions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
• Minimum of 10 years IT infrastructure experience, including 5+ years AWS architecture/engineering at enterprise scale.
• Experience leading enterprise cloud migrations and modernization initiatives.
• Deep AWS services knowledge, including GovCloud, with Well-Architected framework experience.
• Security architecture aligned to federal frameworks (NIST SP 800-53, FedRAMP).

Responsibilities

• Provide senior technical leadership for data center exit and cloud migration efforts.
• Lead Well-Architected reviews and drive remediation for reliability, security, and cost.
• Define infrastructure-as-code standards (Terraform, CloudFormation) and landing zone patterns.
• Own FinOps practices for AWS footprint, including cost visibility and optimization.
• Collaborate with security to design Zero Trust network and identity architecture.
• Oversee BDCR architecture for resilience of mission-critical systems.
• Evaluate new AWS services and container platforms to guide modernization roadmap.
• Mentor engineers and review designs, runbooks, and diagrams.
• Serve as escalation point for complex AWS production issues and ARB involvement.
