Job summary

George Mason University invites applications for the Associate Vice President (AVP) role in the Office of Research, Innovation, and Economic Impact. The AVP will lead strategy to identify, pursue, and secure external funding, managing resources to expand multidisciplinary research and scholarly activity.

Qualifications

• Terminal degree in related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Generally, at least 5 years of experience developing and supporting research programs at a university or research institution.
• Experience interfacing with external funding agencies and collaborators to expand research capacity.

Responsibilities

• Lead development of external funding strategies and partnerships.
• Represent the university with external partners and at meetings.
• Oversee implementation of major research initiatives and project management systems.
• Provide strategic direction of research development services and start-up support for large awards.
• Coordinate with various offices to align strategy and resources for multidisciplinary proposals.
• Lead university working groups and committees as needed.
