Job summary

Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems in Melbourne, FL, is seeking a Sr. Principal Avionics Engineering Technician to join the Avionics Engineering Organization onsite. You will work with INCDS Cognizant Engineers to design, research, develop, and test electronic equipment and avionics systems.

The role requires a Secret clearance, lab testing, integration of flight/navigation equipment, and collaboration with system engineers, hardware designers, and test engineers in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma plus 4 years of related experience.
• Experience with flight avionics hardware and networking standards (1553, Ethernet, RS-232, ARINC-429).
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Experience in production, operational, or test environments.
• Electrical wiring, harness fabrication and repair.
• Proficient with Linux-based systems and DAQ hardware.
• Ability to obtain/maintain US Secret clearance.

Responsibilities

• Integrate and test Prime Mission Equipment in laboratories and on aircraft for ground support testing.
• Design lab bench test cables and use test tools for hardware bench testing.
• Support hardware analysis related to maintainability, reliability, safety and sourcing.
• Create detailed equipment requirements in Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems specification documents for procurement.
• Create hardware test processes and procedures per NG templates.
• Create test procedures for equipment qualification testing.
• Thrive in a fast-paced environment with diverse assignments and collaboration across teams.
• Collaborate with system engineers, hardware designers, and integration/test engineers in lab settings.
