Job summary

Vast is seeking a Senior Avionics Systems Engineer in Long Beach, CA to support the design and build of high‑power satellites. You will report to the Senior Manager, Avionics and Power Systems and drive avionics integration across the development lifecycle.

The role requires 5+ years in avionics or spacecraft systems, strong systems engineering discipline, and the ability to guide cross‑functional teams. This is a full‑time, exempt position with competitive compensation and comprehensive

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in electrical, aerospace or mechanical engineering.
5+ years in avionics design, analysis, and system integration.
Experience with systems engineering for spacecraft development.
Lifecycle development experience in space systems (definition to operation).

Responsibilities

Function as responsible engineer for avionics systems across design, integration, test, launch, and operations.
Define detailed systems design, interfaces, budgets, harness and channel capabilities.
Collaborate with cross-functional team to define requirements and lead trades.
Architect autonomous behaviors and fault responses to meet mission requirements.
Develop system verification plans for flight hardware and readiness.
Perform real-time troubleshooting for root-cause analysis and corrective actions.
