Job summary

Vast is seeking a Senior Power Systems Engineer in Long Beach, CA, to own the satellite power system end-to-end, serving as the technical authority for the power system and supporting launch readiness. The role requires leading architecture, verification planning, and cross-functional collaboration across mechanical, thermal, propulsion, and flight software domains.

The candidate will decompose system requirements, size power budgets, and build energy balance models for orbit scenarios.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or related field.
• 5+ years in spacecraft electrical systems design.
• Experience designing spacecraft power systems from initial requirements.
• Experience with high voltage power systems above 100 V.

Responsibilities

• Own satellite power system end to end, from architecture to verification.
• Serve as technical authority for spacecraft power system and flight readiness.
• Define power modes and build energy balance models for orbit scenarios.
• Decompose system requirements to unit-level specs and verify.
• Drive power-related design decisions across cross-functional teams.
• Collaborate with component engineers to ensure traceability.
• Perform system-level failure analyses and plan validations.
• Manage power system deliverables with Satellite Vehicle Lead.
• Maintain modular design consistency and document decisions.
