Collins Aerospace in Cedar Rapids, IA is seeking a Senior Safety Engineer to join our Reliability, Maintainability, and System Safety team. You’ll influence avionics safety across air transport programs, guiding cross-functional teams to deliver safe, reliable systems.

This hybrid role offers relocation support and exposure to ARP4761, FHAs, PSSAs, SSAs, and cross-disciplinary safety assessments, ensuring pilots and passengers trust daily operations.

Qualifications

• Typically requires a University Degree and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience
• Experience in aircraft systems, hardware, or software engineering

Responsibilities

• Perform civil safety assessment process in accordance with ARP4761, including FHAs, PSSAs, SSAs, FTAs, and CMAs
• Support systems, hardware, and software engineering teams in defining system safety requirements during development
• Review design and development documentation for safety critical equipment
• Mentor and train less experienced safety engineers
• Collaborate with customers, stakeholders, and leadership to develop safety plans
• Be a recognized technical expert in avionics safety
