Job summary

Blue Origin in Denver, CO is seeking an Avionics PCB Layout Engineer to apply deep expertise in digital, analog, mixed-signal, high-speed, RF and high-power PCB design. You will design and lay out high-performance PCBs for aerospace applications and collaborate with mechanical, electrical, firmware, and software teams to meet stringent requirements.

You will use industry tools like Altium Designer to generate schematics and layouts, maintain design documentation, and mentor junior engineers

Qualifications

• Minimum 5–7 years of PCB layout and design experience.
• BS in electrical engineering or related field.
• Strong knowledge of digital, analog, mixed-signal and high-speed layout and design.
• Experience with Altium Designer and other industry tools.
• Ability to create detailed schematics and layouts.
• Knowledge of PCB design best practices for manufacturing and testing.
• High-speed, impedance-controlled stack-ups and multi-layer board layouts.
• Fine-pitch BGA routing including blind/buried vias.
• Multi-rail power delivery and signal integrity considerations.
• Design constraint management (trace length, spacing, etc.)
• Create and maintain symbol/footprint libraries.
• Strong written and verbal communication, teamwork and inclusion.

Responsibilities

• Design and layout high-performance PCBs for aerospace applications.
• Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, firmware, and software teams to meet requirements.
• Use Altium/other tools to create schematics and layouts.
• Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.
• Create and maintain technical PCB documentation.
• Troubleshoot PCB design and layout issues.
• Mentor junior engineers and technicians on PCB layout practices.
• Contribute to PCB/PCBA design reviews with DFM/DFT input.
• Develop and maintain board eCAD libraries and footprints.
• Support continuous process improvements for PCB development.
