Job summary

Blue Origin in Seattle seeks an Avionics PCB Design Automation Engineer to optimize high‑speed, RF and power PCB layouts for avionics products, and to automate tool flows with Altium Enterprise Agile. You will mentor junior engineers and contribute to design reviews.

The role requires a BS in Electrical/Computer Engineering, 7+ years in PCB development with 5+ years in Altium automation, and familiarity with IPC-6012 Class 3 standards. Excellent collaboration and problem‑solving are expected.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical or Computer Engineering or related discipline.
  • 7+ years in PCB development, with 5+ years in Altium tool configuration and process automation.
  • Knowledge of PCB design, manufacturing, assembly and testing best practices.
  • Familiarity with IPC-6012 Class 3 standards.
  • Strong digital/analog/mixed-signal/high-speed layout understanding.
  • Ability to create complex PCB layouts including fine-pitch BGA routing.
  • Ability to create and maintain symbol/footprint libraries for complex devices.
  • Ability to earn trust and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication skills and ownership.

Responsibilities

  • Design and layout high-performance PCBs for aerospace applications.
  • Develop and maintain board eCAD libraries and footprints.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to automate tool flows and processes.
  • Configure Altium Enterprise Agile to optimize PCB and library development, leveraging AI where possible.
  • Troubleshoot PCB design and library issues and ensure industry-standard compliance.
  • Create technical documentation for PCB layout and design.
  • Mentor junior engineers on PCB design practices and libraries.
  • Contribute to PCB/PCBA design reviews with DFM/DFT insights.
  • Help define PCB development process improvements and checklists.
