Job summary

COLLINS AEROSPACE in Melbourne, FL seeks a Senior Electrical Engineer to own complex hardware challenges across sustaining engineering and new design activities, ensuring aviation-standard compliance.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, apply Collins processes, and contribute to qualification, testing, and production support for CNS avionics systems. This onsite role offers technical leadership and growth opportunities.

Qualifications

• Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) with 5+ years experience.
• U.S. Person required for military contract.
• Proven experience in electrical design engineering.
• Experience generating schematics and board layouts.
• Experience with embedded processors and RF systems.
• Hands-on debugging and testing of complex electrical hardware.
• Expertise in at least one electrical discipline (digital/analog/mixed-signal/power/RF).

Responsibilities

• Interpret, generate, and update complex electrical schematics and board layouts.
• Develop hardware requirement changes and manage hardware baselines.
• Design, analyze, test, qualify, integrate, and document high-complexity hardware.
• Collaborate with mechanical, systems, and manufacturing engineering.
• Apply Collins processes to drive product quality and customer satisfaction.
• Support production teams and troubleshoot issues.
• Contribute to engineering estimates and bid/schedule development.
• Act as SME in at least one hardware domain.
• Support LRU development activities and monitor obsolescence.
• Review defect trends, identify root causes, propose improvements.
• Escalate technical issues to project leadership.
