Job summary

Leidos Defense in Huntsville, AL seeks a Principal Electrical Engineer to architect and lead avionics hardware for DoD programs. You will drive hardware-software integration, define LRU architectures, and guide IPTs through full hardware lifecycles in a fast-paced mission-focused environment.

Requirements include a Master’s in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent with 12+ years), active Top-Secret clearance, and extensive experience with SoC/FPGA, RTOS, MIL-STD standards, and system co-design.

Qualifications

• Active Top-Secret Clearance
• Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent with 10+ years hardware architecture experience
• U.S. Citizenship required; experience leading multi-disciplinary teams with IPTs

Responsibilities

• Architect, lead, and deliver avionics, LRUs for missiles, UAVs, and launch platforms.
• Support system co-designs using Xilinx/AMD Zynq SoCs, Altera FPGAs, MicroBlaze, and WOSA/UDP/IP.
• Oversee multi-layer PDN, low-noise regulation, rigid-flex PCBA, and high-speed interfaces (PCIe, RF).
• Lead IPTs for electronics, cabling, grounding; coordinate with subcontractors for design consistency.
• Translate military standards into hardware requirements; provide technical write-ups and estimates for CAMs.
• Act as test conductor for HWIL integration and system-level tests.
