Job summary

Leidos Defense is seeking a Principal Electrical Engineer to design and deliver advanced avionics and hardware for DoD programs. You will drive hardware/software integration, multi-rail PDN, and high-speed interfaces for mission-critical platforms, leading IPTs and coordinating with systems engineering.

You will operate in a security-cleared environment, translating complex customer concepts into flight-ready hardware.

Qualifications

Active Top-Secret Clearance.
10+ years of hardware architecture experience with a Master’s degree (or 12+ years with a Bachelor’s).
Proven background as a hardware architect or technical lead for flight-worthy electronics and avionics assemblies.
Extensive experience with SoC/FPGA systems, RTOS environments, and high-frequency digital/analog interfaces.
Knowledge of MIL-STD-461, MIL-STD-704, MIL-STD-1472, IPC-D-620 Class 3, IPC-D-630.
Experience leading multi-disciplinary teams as IPT Lead, product owner, or Scrum Master.

Responsibilities

Architect, lead, and deliver avionics, electrical weapon interfaces, and LRUs for missiles, UAVs, and launch platforms.
Oversee complex PDN definitions and high-speed interfaces (PCIe, transceivers, RF modems).
Direct IPTs for electronics, cabling, grounding, and bonding; host weekly technical interchange with subcontractors.
Collaborate with systems engineering to translate military standards into hardware requirements; support CAMs with technical write-ups and schedules.
Act as test conductor or lead verification engineer for system-level tests, environmental stress screening, HWIL, and launch readiness.
