Job summary

Avidyne is seeking a Senior Certification Engineer in Melbourne, FL, to lead end-to-end certification for advanced avionics across fixed- and rotary-wing platforms. You’ll collaborate with systems, software, hardware, and test teams, as well as regulators, to deliver compliant, safe products that pilots rely on.

You will drive certification strategies, develop plans and reports, and mentor junior engineers while staying current with evolving regulations and best practices in aviation compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related engineering field.
• 5+ years of certification or systems engineering experience (3+ with a Master’s).
• Proven experience managing FAA certification programs (TSO, STC, or TC).
• Hands-on knowledge of DO-178C, DO-254, ARP4754A, and ARP4761 compliance standards.
• Experience coordinating with regulatory authorities and DERs.

Responsibilities

• Lead certification projects for avionics systems or subsystems from planning through final approval.
• Coordinate with regulatory authorities, DERs, and auditors to secure approvals and close compliance gaps.
• Drive certification strategies to meet FAA, EASA, and global airworthiness standards.
• Develop and maintain certification plans, test reports, IMs, PGAs, compliance matrices, and ICAs.
• Define certification strategy and means of compliance.
• Partner with systems, software, and hardware engineers to ensure seamless integration of certification requirements throughout design and development.
• Coordinate conformity inspections, audits, and reviews with FAA, EASA, and DERs.
• Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior engineers.
• Identify opportunities to streamline internal processes and contribute to certification best practices.
• Stay current on evolving regulations and contribute to process improvements.
