Job summary

General Motors seeks a Senior Software Systems Engineer for Autonomous Vehicles to design, implement, and maintain evaluation and validation processes for ML-based AV software. Qualifications

• Strong Python programming and ability to build clear, maintainable analysis tools.
• Experience designing or implementing testing, simulation, or evaluation frameworks for complex systems.
• Demonstrated end-to-end ownership from problem definition to delivery and communication.
• Analytical and systems-engineering work involving complex software/hardware systems or AI functions.

Responsibilities

• Define AV evaluation and validation processes from concept to implementation, including test-framework requirements and metrics.
• Design scalable testing and simulation frameworks for test generation, execution, data collection, and analysis.
• Provide hands-on implementation of infrastructure and data solutions to assess AV performance using simulation and real data.
• Develop methods to evaluate sim-to-real correlation and predictive value of simulation results.
• Identify metrics and sampling approaches to improve evaluation workflows and evidence.
• Contribute to automated triage and root-cause analysis for AV deficiencies and uncertainties.
• Communicate insights and limitations to engineers and leadership; maintain KPIs and confidence measures.
• Support safety and readiness decisions by linking continuous improvement to evidence.
