  • Lead AV projects and coordinate with internal departments, vendors, and contractors; develop and maintain documentation for AV systems.
  • Evaluate, test, and recommend new AV technologies to enhance instructional delivery.
  • Train and mentor AV team members and student workers on equipment use and troubleshooting.
  • Set up procedures, maintain inventory of AV equipment, and ensure timely maintenance and upgrades.

Job Summary

Job Description Summary Organization's Summary Statement: The Senior AV Specialist provides advanced technical expertise, support, and leadership in the planning, installation, operation, and maintenance of audio-visual systems across campus. This position serves as a subject matter expert in AV technologies and collaborates closely with faculty, staff, and external vendors to support instruction, events, and institutional initiatives. The role includes project leadership, system design, and the mentoring of junior AV staff.

EXAMPLES OF WORK
  • Provide advanced technical support for complex live and hybrid events, including video conferencing, recording, streaming, and sound reinforcement.
  • Lead AV projects and coordinate with internal departments, vendors, and contractors; develop and maintain documentation for AV system configurations, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and support workflows.
  • Evaluate, test, and recommend new AV technologies and solutions to enhance instructional and institutional delivery.
  • Train and mentor AV team members and student workers on equipment use and troubleshooting.
  • Set up procedures, maintain inventory of AV equipment, and ensure timely maintenance and upgrades; ensure AV systems comply with accessibility standards and institutional policies.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Ability to lift 10 lbs.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Experience: Five (5) years of audio visual programming experience.
  • Other: Additional work experience as defined above may be substituted on a year for year basis for up to four (4) years of the required education.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
  • Knowledge of audio visual technology.
  • Knowledge of room design and implementation best practices.
  • Skill in oral and written communication.
  • Skill in the use of Microsoft Office Google Office Suite.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize assignments.
Additional Job Details Preferences
  • Ability to support, identify, and provide tier 3 and tier 4 troubleshooting skills for general problems with PC/Apple & AV hardware and software.
  • Advanced knowledge of Crestron Technology, Crestron programming and/or Q-SYS hardware, Q-SYS programming, laptop/desktop/projection connectivity and interfacing, video conferencing, and teleconferencing.
  • Experience with room design and implementation.
  • Proficient in design applications (Visio, CAD, etc.).
  • Must possess a positive attitude, willingness to learn, and proactively seek continuous quality improvement of services.
  • Experience with studio and live broadcast system technology is a plus.
  • Able to stay abreast of current technologies and training within the AV field.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to collaborate with team members and willingness to share information.
  • Ability to use discretion and confidentiality with access to sensitive data and local administrative access to all desktop equipment and data in the environment for the purpose of support.
  • Other Duties
    • Occasional regional travel to satellite locations as needed.
    • Occasional weekend or after-hours work required.

    Regular Salary Range $72,560 - $87,072
