Job summary

Responsibilities

• Investigates all technical support issues reported or escalated from Smith IT Technicians or administrators.
• Has dispatch responsibility and distributes incoming service requests to team members or support groups.
• Programs Crestron control processors, touch panels, routers, and audio DSPs to support classroom technology.
• Reviews requirements and assists with design/deployment of AV systems in classrooms.
• Performs tests/pilots of viable technologies and troubleshoots existing AV programs to restore functionality.

Organization's Summary Statement: The Washington DC campus for the University of Maryland, Robert H. Smith School of Business has instructional and collaborative technology in 5 classrooms, 1 lab, and a conference room.

• IT/AV Contractual 1 investigates all technical support issues reported and/or found, escalated from the Smith IT Technicians or delegated by Smith IT Management or Administrators.
• IT/AV Contractual 1 has dispatch responsibility and distributes incoming service requests to individual team members or support groups.
• Physical Demands: Ability to sit and stand at a computer for extended periods of time; Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull IT and audiovisual equipment, supplies, and related materials weighing up to approximately 10 lbs, with or without reasonable accommodation.

• EXAMPLES OF WORK: Works closely with Classroom Technology staff responsible for classroom design and deployment of technologies to program and deploy AV systems in General Purpose Classrooms; Reviews requirements and assists with the design of classroom AV systems; Performs tests and pilots of viable technologies; Troubleshoots existing AV programs to restore system functionality; Programs Crestron control processors, touch panels, routers, audio DSPs (Crestron and others) and other peripherals to support instructional technology classrooms; Other duties as assigned.

Preferences

• Education: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
• Experience: Three (3) years of audio programming experience.
• Other: Additional work experience as defined above may be substituted on a year for year basis for up to four (4) years of the required education.
• Ability to support, identify, and troubleshoot general problems with PC/AV hardware and Apple devices.
• Knowledge of Windows/Mac OS, IE, Firefox, Safari, the MS Office suite (especially PowerPoint), and file/print services such as Active Directory, ServiceNow, and Google (Gmail).
• The candidate must have a general understanding of client-server applications, networks, authentication, application packaging, and imaging.
• Must possess a positive attitude, willingness to learn, and proactively seek continuous quality improvement of services.
