Job summary

Gatik AI is seeking a Head of Systems and Safety Engineering to own the safety architecture and risk management lifecycle for our autonomous vehicle platform. You will build and lead a high-performing team while aligning safety with customers and governing safety across partners and suppliers.

Based in Santa Clara, this onsite role requires strategic vision, hands-on leadership, and deep proficiency in functional safety standards and AI safety frameworks to enable safe, scalable deployment of

Qualifications

Bachelor's or master's degree in engineering fields.
10+ years of systems safety engineering experience.
4+ years of direct engineering management experience.
Experience interfacing with customers or external stakeholders.
Ability to operate in a fast-paced frontier tech environment.
Proven track record delivering end-to-end safety cases.

Responsibilities

Lead a multidisciplinary systems and safety engineering team.
Define and defend end-to-end safety case framework (UL 4600, ISO 26262, ISO 21448/SOTIF).
Define safety and verification methodologies for AI/ML autonomy models.
Define system-level safety requirements and hazard mitigations across hardware, compute, and software.
Oversee risk analysis methods (HARA, FMEA, FTA, STPA) with traceability.
Direct safety program operations, safety review boards, incident protocols, release gates.
