Job summary

Electronic Environments in New York City is seeking an experienced Lead Technician with 5+ years AV installation and integration experience to lead on-site installations of home automation systems.

The role involves mentoring field technicians, coordinating with project teams, wiring, programming URC remotes, testing systems, and training clients after completion. On-call weekend rotation is required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Expert knowledge of Audio & Video distribution concepts and equipment (HDMI, Dante).
• IR, RS-232, and Network control protocols & communication.
• Networking standards including VPN connections & port forwarding concepts.
• Savant, Crestron and/or Control4 control systems.
• Lutron lighting & shade systems.
• OSHA 40 and applicable SST certification required. (or able to obtain with 6 months of employment)
• Valid driver’s license preferred.

Responsibilities

• Teach, mentor, and guide field technicians and junior technicians to install and commission AV home integration systems.
• Lead installations for AV control systems (e.g., wire ring out, wire management, labeling, termination).
• Install lighting keypads and touch panels; program URC remotes; mount displays and equipment.
• Document status reports and updates to project software; provide daily updates to project team.
• Verify punch list items and align with project timelines.
• Work with team to set up and test AV signal flows, perform testing, and diagnose issues.
• Communicate changes to project manager due to construction or other constraints.
• Interact professionally with external stakeholders (contractors, architects, clients) and support the project manager.
• Load programming and train clients in system use post-completion.
• On-call weekend rotation is required.
