Job summary

General Motors is seeking a Senior Manager, AV Behavior Safety Engineering to lead the strategy and execution for safety of SAE Level 3–4 automated driving systems powered by machine learning models. You will influence launch decisions and report into the AV Safety Strategy and Assurance organization.

You will build end-to-end validation methods, collaborate with AI, software, simulation, and metrics teams, hire and grow a high‑performing team, and drive safety performance indicators for AV

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS/engineering/math or related field.
• 8+ years in ML, engineering, data science, or related field.
• 8+ years in autonomous vehicle or robotics development.
• Proven safety leadership in AV development (safety strategies, risk assessments).

Responsibilities

• Define strategy for safe AV system development and validation.
• Lead AV behavior safety engineering team and mentoring.
• Collaborate with software validation, AI/ML, simulation, and metrics teams.
• Oversee AV behavior validation across simulation, closed-course, and public-road data.
