Job summary

General Motors is seeking a Senior Manager, AV Behavior Safety Engineering to lead the strategy for defining, measuring and validating the safety of SAE Level 3–4 automated driving systems powered by machine‑learned models. You will influence launch decisions for GM’s next generation of automated driving products.

You will guide end‑to‑end AV behavior safety across multiple teams, drive safety performance indicators, and ensure a robust safety case aligned with ISO and AVSC practices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in CS/Engineering/Math or related field.
• 8+ years in ML, engineering, data science, or related field.
• 8+ years in autonomous vehicle or robotics development.
• Experience on production‑intent AV programs.
• Proven safety leadership in AV development.
• Deep AV behavior development knowledge and evaluation.
• Familiar with ISO 5083, ISO 21448 (SOTIF), AVSC practices.
• Strong communication to executives and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Define strategy and evidence for AV behavior safety across SA and SPI.
• Lead end‑to‑end AV behavior validation methodology with AI systems.
• Collaborate with Software Validation, Embodied AI, and Simulation teams.
• Mentor and grow a high‑performing AV behavior safety team.
