Job summary

Gatik AI is seeking a Senior Systems & Safety Engineer for Autonomy to own the functional safety lifecycle and system safety concepts across perception, localization, mapping, planning, controls, and fault management.

You will architect high-availability mechanisms, define safety targets, and ensure autonomy releases satisfy the driverless safety case, with onsite work at our Santa Clara, CA office.

Qualifications

• Education in robotics, systems engineering, CS, or aerospace with advanced degree preferred.
• “Experience”: 6+ years in functional safety or systems engineering for autonomous systems.
• Deep expertise in ISO 26262, UL 4600, ISO 21448.
• Proficient in safety analyses (HARA, STPA, FMEA, FTA) and real-time autonomous system architecture.

Responsibilities

• Define and maintain FSC and TSC for Level 4 autonomous system (ISO 26262 up to ASIL D).
• Lead HARAs, STPA, FMEAs, FTAs across autonomy modules.
• Derive safety requirements from vehicle goals to software components and allocate them.
• Architect fail-operational, fail-aware, and fail-safe fallback strategies.
